Mr Predictor: AFCON Matchday 2 Tips

AFCON got off to a thrilling start!  The opening matchday delivered top-quality football, surprise results, and a powerful display of African pride. From underdogs making statements to tournament favourites being tested, matchday one more than lived up to the hype.

Now, attention turns to matchday two, and that’s where the value really starts to emerge. Below, you’ll find my carefully researched AFCON betting tips, saving you the time while highlighting the strongest angles across the fixtures.

Overall 4-fold odds: 15.61

Odds accurate as of the time of publication.

Angola v Zimbabwe – BTTS – Yes @ 2.21

The opening match of AFCON matchday two sees Angola take on Zimbabwe in what promises to be a competitive encounter. Angola began their campaign with a narrow 2–1 defeat to South Africa. They showed attacking intent by drawing level in the 35th minute before defensive lapses proved costly. Zimbabwe suffered an identical scoreline in their opener against a strong Egypt side. Resilience was shown but they struggled to keep things tight at the back. A closer look at both performances highlights defensive vulnerabilities for each nation, while their ability to find the net suggests this matchup could produce goals at both ends.

Egypt to win @ 2.01

South Africa and Egypt face off in the second round of AFCON fixtures, with both sides coming into the match on the back of opening-day victories. Egypt were made to work harder than expected after conceding first against Zimbabwe. However, Premier League stars Omar Marmoush and Mohamed Salah turned the game around in the second half with a goal apiece. Although South Africa also claimed three points in their opener, Egypt’s attacking quality and depth should prove decisive. Therefore, I expect them to come out on top in this encounter.

Senegal to win @ 1.74

Senegal came into this year’s AFCON tipped as one of the tournament’s heavyweights, and they lived up to the billing with a commanding 3–0 victory in their opening match. They now face a resilient DR Congo side on matchday two, fresh off a narrow win against Benin. Having analysed both teams’ first performances, there appears to be strong value in backing Senegal to follow up from their emphatic win in the first game.

Morocco to win to Nil @ 2.02

The hosts of this year’s AFCON take on Mali in their next fixture after a comfortable 2–0 victory in their opening match. Mali, meanwhile, were held to a surprising 1–1 draw by Zambia in a game they were widely expected to win. Based on the performances shown in their opening fixtures, there appears to be strong value in backing Morocco to replicate their first-match scoreline and secure another win without conceding.
